Where cover is required for property in transit, goods in transit insurance which usually subject to a limit of cover per vehicle can provide the solution.
Some motor trade insurers automatically provide £2,000 for ‘stock’ in transit cover however, please note this will only relate to property/stock owned by you the policyholder.
Stock can be your own parts/vehicles being carried in or upon van, transporter, recovery truck or trailer. Please note that ‘goods’ in transit will represent both your own & property in your custody or control which you are responsible for such as a customer vehicle.
Please note with certain insurers that with ‘vehicles’ in transit, if the wheels are not touching the road, this will not be covered under the road risks section of the policy. therefore, please check your current policy wording to ensure you are receiving adequate transit cover that meet your business requirements.
On a similar note, most motor trade policies exclude transporters that can carry more than 2 vehicles at any one time.
